Trick or Treat in Ankeny in 2009 can be explained in three words- COLD, WET, & MISERABLE!!! Alana was a mermaid and Brynn was grapes. Brynn was not a fan of putting on a costume, so was only in it for a few pictures. Alana wasn't happy that she had to layer up, but once she went outside for a few pictures she understood why we needed to wear layers. We headed out at 6:00 pm Friday night and it was just so cold, windy, rainy, and just miserable. Brynn was literally shaking she was so cold. After 20 min Brynn and I headed home where Mom and Dad were handing out candy. I thought Alana and Steve would stay out for awhile, but they were home 10 minutes after us. Steve said they were heading to another big group of houses and Alana said she just wanted to go to one house and go home. Alana spent the last hour and a half handing out candy to other kids. She had so much fun seeing all the costumes. The cold weather didn't keep kids from being out though as we still had 130 trick or treaters come to our house. Wonder how many we would have had if the weather had been nice?
Overall we still had a fun Halloween, but hopefully next year we will have better weather!
